JOURNALS

Because I keep a journal to wrtie down dreams and other happenings, and also because I have a book project that (while still in progress)
was to be part of teaching myself how to hand bind books in a medieval style, I fell in love with the process and decided it would be fun to create
blank books with various themes. All the journal pages are made from 100% recycled handmade paper, with is assembled into signatures and then
stitched. The binding is then glued, then the cover, which is essentially attached in with the binding, is assembled and embellished. The fabrics used
are scraps of stuff i used in my days as a costume designer, and some are from thrift store finds. Many of the embellishments are also found objects - like the tarot cards on the Gypsy, the buttons, the metal filligree piece on Karma, etc.

Each piece is entirely unique with colored pages to match the theme of the book. Many have contrasting endpapers and decorative elements
upon them like image transfers or more found bits from packaging. All the books have built in page markers, usually made of beads or lace or some sort of ribbon.
All the books close by means of either ties or buttons and loops. Each book is 64 pages long, and while unfortunately are not compatible with fountain pen,
can be written in using felt tip or ballpoint, as well as soft pencils (#2 or softer) Marker also works, although it does bleed.
